I made something for you.
It’s a free training course for fiction writers.
I turned one of my most popular fiction- writing courses into an email sequence.
Rather than paying thousands of dollars for a class at UT, you can see how I teach storytelling for free.
You sign up with your email address, and you get a series of six emails, two a week, guiding you through the creation of a completely new story.
I will provide a framework for the plot; you will provide the setting and protagonist. It’s a lot of fun.
You’ll need a few minutes to read each message, and ten to fifteen minutes to write out each part.
It should be the easiest short story you’ve ever created.
(When my new blog is ready, this course will be hosted on the homepage, but I wanted existing readers to get the first look — to say thank you for reading me.)
If you are still unsure, here’s a fuller description:
The truth is, it’s really hard to write an enjoyable, coherent, clear piece of fiction.
You have to master plot, point of view, style, description and character — before you can finish something people actually love.
And this process is slow and results in a great amount of discarded pages.
So I designed this writing course for you.
This course contains six short emails and they go out twice a week.
These messages teach two things: firstly, they each contain a quick technique for training yourself in the arts of fiction (plot, setting, narration and so on); secondly, they guide you step by step through the process of planning and writing out a short story.
The best part of the process: this new story will arise out of your specific situation, your environment and location, and your own voice.
